Mary, you insist on treating my comments as a political statement and then trying to refute some strawman you've created, all of which is irrelevant to the point.

Karen,

I am sorry. I am not angry with you. I am angry with the position that you are supporting. It is the position the administration is taking us.

First of all, let me just say I understand the Israeli position. They feel their existence is being threatened. I do not want to see harm to happen to Israel.

However, most of the people being harmed right now are innocent Lebanese men, women, and a lot of children.

For whatever George W Bush reasons for US policy to continue in this manner, nothing good can come from it. For the reasons cited in the article I referenced, Hezbollah can not be eradicated in this manner. Killing more Lebanese is tragic and for the most part unnecessary.

The world, everybody but us, are pleading for this to stop. We are the only one's supporting the current situation to continue. This has to stop and it will stop. What is going on is more than just tragic.

Israel will unilaterally cease fire. It is only a matter of time. We are the only power that can influence the time of the cease fire.

Call it what you want, but I call that negotiating with Israel for a cease fire.

The solution is obvious.

Israel will unilaterally cease fire.

An international military force will move in to effect a cease fire from both sides.

Negotiations for a permanent peace will then take place. Hezbollah will not be reperesented at the peace talks.

I am not hopeful for a positive outcome from the peasce talks primarily because we do not have the leadership to effect longer term stability and peace.

The problem is, no one else can step in to take our position of leadership.

Your position is the same as the administrations position. No one else (outside of neocons) hold that position.
