Murtha (as I understand it) has proposed a troop redeployment in the region over a period of time

I did not realize that Japan (Murtha's suggested redeploymemt site) was in the region. Better take another look at a map...

READ....cut and run

disbanding the military

what military...you mean the 14 thousand Sunni Saddam appointed Generals?? Outside of them the rest were conscripts who all ran out, they didn't have to be disbanded

forcing our National Guard into roles they were neither trained for nor emotionally ready to handle..

No man is "ready" for war, unless he is a career special forces soldier. Those the the NG received the same basic and advanced training as any in the Army or Marines. IF they were just a bunch of girls that wanted the benefits, then I suggest they should have NOT joined the service. There is always a chance of war.

I do not have a plan with a set date. I trust our Generals to tell the President that the Iraqis are taking over in a reasonable fashion, and at that time, we will start drawing down the troops levels. You cannot set a dat certain, that is just an invitation for those that would destroy Iraq to sit back and wait.

BTW, we ares till in Germany....Japan...Korea....Bosnea....
