If he really meant the whole Core 2 Duo family, he might be starting the 7 weeks from the time of the first Woodcrest shipments, back in mid-June.

If he means Conroe or Conroe/Merom, then it could be that most new Core 2 parts are being shipped as Woodcrests for now.

Where were you a few days ago when Intel launched C2D? We've been talking about it for days!

I was listening to what he actually said:

Core 2 Duo Fastest Ramping Chip In Intel's History, Otellini Says

"Otellini said when the Pentium processor launched years ago it took one year to ship 1 million units. "We will ship 1 million processors in a little less than 10 weeks," he said."

His statement was to add perspective to the ramp. He was comparing 1 year of Pentium to reach 1 million, to 10 weeks for Conroe. They've already begun shipping.

"System builder Velocity Micro is already stocking distributors with Core 2 Duo gaming systems, said company president and CEO Randy Copeland. He said his ability to get early quantities of the new processors was "excellent."

He wasn't saying 1 million in the next 10 weeks. I would think total shipped by EOQ3 will be considerably more than that.

FPG: Didn't we learn anything from his last sojourn here? If you actually think that providing links and logic will persuade him, you're dreaming. It chews up board bandwidth to no avail, a la Sarmad. Their functions range from merely dilutive to tweaking. Best to ignore.
