Because they focused on HSDPA. Their 20% to 25% market share and growing in this early market is actually pretty good. Their 50% market share goal is just that, a goal.

As you know, I think that explanation is nonsense.

However, even if your statement is true, it looks like that strategy would have failed. Did you notice Motorola's HSDPA handsets? They announced two and have three more in the pipeline for this year. The initial handsets have an integrated baseband with an ARM11 based applications processor. Unfortunately, Q's version of that chipset (the MSM7200) only started sampling in March of this year and wont be in any commerical handsets until next summer.

It looks like Q's HSDPA lead isnt nearly big enough to translate into much in the way of increased market share.
