Maybe because the Kuwaitis DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF IRAQ???!!!

No kidding they don't want to be part of Iraq. The British left them sitting on billions of dollars in oil wealth and they want it all to themselves. That's not surprising at all.

The Shia tribes that live in Saudi Arabia near the Saudi oil wealth probably don't want to be part of Saudi Arabia - they'd rather have their extended tribe of 20,000 people be their own independent country and control their own 5% of the planet's oil wealth themselves. They don't get to, and the idea of them getting their own country with 5% of the planet's oil probably sounds crazy to you. It is sort of, unless you are Kuwaiti, in which case its reality.....

You're making the assumption that because something is the status quo, it is the way it should be. That, of course, is not necessarily the case. As for answering the question "Why do you think Kuwait should not be part of Iraq", with "Because they don't want to be part of Iraq" doesn't cut it. I'd say you ought to advocate what leads to the greater good, not what leads to the idle rich remaining air conditioned and happy.

So what has Kuwait done that it deserves independence from Iraq, and thus doesn't have to share it vast, vast, vast (really vast) oil reserves with the 24 million Iraqis who would have that reserve were it not for British interference in the political development of the region?
