Kuwait was thumbing their nose at Saddam, AFAIK, because they assumed the USA would prevent an attack. Unfortunately, our ambassador was on another page.

No I still say we would invade Mexico, but it is only an analogy, as I don't see Mexico standing up to us the way Kuwait did to Saddam. Mexico would be reasonable, hence so would we. Kuwait felt there was no reason to be reasonable. We have clearly shown in Iraq that we don't exactly double check our facts or exhaust all other recourses before rushing to war. I'm sure you been awake enough to have made that observation.
