Water is even more important than oil, also Israel and Syria where in a sense already at war, they never had peace agreements after there earlier wars, and there where other small violent incidents at the border. The situation wasn't exactly the same with Kuwait and Iraq.

Come on Tim, just admit that nations go to war over resources, often before exhausting all other channels. I've now found an absolutely dynamite example: Israel & Syria over water, vs. Iraq & Kuwait over oil. You have zero wiggle room.
