re: it's clear to me that the terrorists are going after America's allies, not America itself. They know that America's allies are more easily scared away. It's all about going after the "soft targets." And America isn't a "soft target."

That's contradictory. Is it "soft targets" or the "easily scared away" they are going after?

I agree with the "soft targets" part... it's much easier to attack in Europe because they have a much larger, less integrated Muslim population. But frankly the Europeans are much less easily "scared away"; they have been dealing with terrorism for a long, long time. America is a neophyte. Two real attacks, ever. And of course the fact that they are on the same continent helps the terrorists.

re: Meanwhile, if you thinking relying solely on the FBI and the CIA is sufficient, think back to a year ago when London was bombed. Lot of good Scotland Yard was in preventing that attack.

LOL, and lots of good the British troops in Iraq did. In fact the British troops in Iraq were the admitted motivation of the terrorists.

Our military adventures in the Muslim/Arab lands cause terrorism against us. Our police actions help prevent terrorism, when they are able.

That should be obvious to anyone.

Congratulations to Scotland Yard... what a noble service they provided to British and US citizens. They deserve our thanks as much as Bush and Blair deserve our disgust and condemnation.

JF, it's clear to me that the terrorists are going after America's allies, not America itself. They know that America's allies are more easily scared away. It's all about going after the "soft targets." And America isn't a "soft target."

Muslims are going after the Europeans because they are closer and easier to infiltrate due to the large Muslim populations in many of those countries. When terrorists blow up rail cars in Madrid, fear is struck in all westerners; that is their intent. They would love to get at the US but Madrid or London will do in a pinch.

And so long as the US and Israelis neos keep going at it, there will be more of these terrorist plots.
