The technology issues are separate.

We must be talking about two different things because as I see it it's all technology. You can't reasonably expect privacy when you're talking on, say, a cordless phone simply due to the technology. I know I've accidentally picked up other people's conversations on them so I have no reasonable choice but to expect that other people will pick up mine.

Any laws that exist are beside the point until and unless the technology changes. When the technology provides for secure conversations, then we will be able reasonably expect privacy. If my logic is off here, please explain where I have gone wrong.
