You've called FDR some kind of hero, and HE CONDONED the internment of Japanese-Americans. And you've claimed that America, under Bush, is a Fascist state, but ignore the fact that thousands of Amercans were held without legal recourse in a Fascist act perpetrated by the Roosevelt administration.I don't believe in a police state as you do. I don't believe that might makes right as you do. I see the police and the military as necessary evils but evils nonetheless because they are about fear and murder, guns instead of butter. I don't believe in a police state either. In fact, I think it's CRITICAL to wage this war on the "turf" of the Jihadists for the VERY PURPOSE of our being required to turn this country into a "Fortress Amerika". If we don't fight them in their own backyards and force them to defend territory that they believed would eventually just fall into their laps as America retreated, they will be able to focus their attention on attacking this country. The human species spends way too much time fighting instead of using the resources we have to give all of us a very good life. Of course it does. And I'm all about defeating those who would instigate oppression and expansionist agendas in order that future generations HAVE THE ABILITY to live a very good life. Unfortunately, diplomacy has not succeeded in accomplishing this. And war, brutal as it is, is often required to tear apart these totalitarian "security states" in order that legitimate and democratically elected governments can arise and lay the foundation for that "very good life". You call me a warmonger and you're just absolutely wrong. I don't like war. I've had to attend far too many memorial ceremonies for soldiers who have died, a few I had known, and many who people I worked with had know as fellow warriors and friends. But I also know that if people continue to appease and fail to confront the militant agenda of totalitarian despots and religious militant fanatics, A LOT MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE. War is not clean, nor surgical. And innocent people at the hands of both sides. It's a very savage method of resolving differences between nations. War brings out both the most noble, and most infamous, tendencies of the men and women involved. Men will die to save the lives of their buddies and/or innocent people, while others will pay heed ot the darkest sides of their natures and commit the most heinous of atrocities. But you just cannot engage in diplomacy and peace talks when one side of the confrontation is utterly disinterested in peace, or maintaining the "status quo". People are not dying in Iraq because Americans are there (since we're no longer occupying the country, but are there at the request of the duly elected government).. People are dying in Iraq because there has been a counter-invasion by both Jihadists, and former Ba'thists sworn to destroy the Iraqi nation and subjugate its people. If Americans left Iraq today, the killing and suicide bombings would not stop. If anything, they would grow more prevalent since the American retreat would be seen as a victory and proof that their strategy of terrorism has suceeded. Hawk
