Ah, one of the problems with a serious discussion of libertarianism is what is core and what is periphery; and, most important, who gets to make that decision. I submit that it's not a problem. Libertarianism is about liberty. Everything else is periphery. P.S. Another way to tell that the proposed privatization of SS was not essentially libertarian is to look at who championed it. GWB doesn't have a libertarian bone in his body. It simply cannot be claimed as a libertarian initiative.
