Government can do some things here. $100 billion? After the party this administration had with our wallets, well that seems a bit extreme to me. Government needs to create incentives, and that could be in part funding some research. But we already have a lot of the technology we need. We need to get it in the pipeline. Solar and electric cars seem to be a good combination.

For what we have spent in Iraq we could have put solar cells on most of the roofs in California and they could have been supplying demand for power and charging electric car batteries.

Electric cars with dual batteries. One set charging at home while you driving on the other set. Going on a trip? Put the extra battery in the trunk where it hooks up to the engine and you can switch to the other battery when one goes low. Hybrid technology. Government could simply mandate a certain percentage of cars be hybrid, or get a certain mpg or that they be electric. Who killed the electric car?

Then there are the biofuels too. But we want to be careful that we don't start impacting the price of food by using food crops as energy. Biodiesel from algae grown on municipal waste water seems like a promising idea.

Many, many ways to conserve energy. Green design, smart design for cars and houses.

Plenty we could do if we had a government that was looking out for America, instead of in bed with Enron and Exxon.

I want the government to put $100 Billion into an alternative fuel "Manhattan Project".

Do you think the Israelis will give us back the $100 billion in foreign aid they have extorted from American taxpayers?
