Don...if Iraq breaks down completely those oil leases will be worthless. Even if they could pump it they wouldn't be able to guard the pipelines that would transport it. Saddam's only support for the Palestinians was his P.R. campaign to pay cash to suicide bombers. He couldn't have cared LESS about the Palestinians. He just wanted to keep the fanatics off his back. Saddam was secular...he didn't care about all the religious stuff. As long as he kept stability in his own fiefdom he was happy.
