That was part. Plus he gave his commanders an impossible mission. Destroying Hezbollah once and for all just wasn't a possibility. Especially if it was to be restricted to an air war as it was for the first few weeks.

There may have been some deficiencies, perhaps even a few important ones, but the main that showed in this conflict was that Olmert was indecisive.

There were also problems with the reservists. They were out of shape and poorly equipped. I don't think you can blame one thing over another........I think all these issues effected the Israeli performance.

Bottomline: standing armies don't do well against insurgent/militia populations unless they have specialized training.
