"If the US started a fracas, we'd get our butts charred in Iraq by those same anti tank weapons you just saw working on the Israelis."

I'm wondering why we haven't seen these already. From reports, they're readily avail;able on the black market.

Iran with nukes will certainly lead to a sunni nuke in the middle east. The instability created by this is unacceptable to the west, not to mention israel. Yes its about power and whether we have the stones to prevent this scenario from developing. What i was suggesting was a way to prevent this largely by paying off Iran and NK and not thru war. If nothing else it would slow down the nukes parhaps to a time when the iranians have changed the nature of their regime. Iran has multiple interests. Being a nuke power in the middle east makes them less, not more secure. I was also talking about a mideast settlement and an end to their rejectionism. My belief is that except for the very radical, iran would be open to such a deal, if their larger interests were met. Fighting the twin terrorist monster of al quaeda and iran is awfully hard. Neutralizing the more benign of the two at least in terms of ideology and terror, would be a big win for us and for them too. If they are truly crazy, then all bets are off.
