I agree with you about fairy tales. I find cartoons more problematic since there is some evidence kids imitate the violent behavior they see. I'm sure you remember the study that showed that seeing something done lit up the same pathways in the brain as actually doing it. From what we know about desensitization from other studies, that could be dangerous. Reading or hearing a fairy tale requires a different type of processing in the brain. That could be a very crucial difference.

cartoons and fairy tales to help...

Cartoons are rich in color and puts wonderful characters in motion.

I doubt they have any negative impact on any reasonably healthy family.

Fairy tales tell stories. If it is any good, it keeps children's attention and perhaps encourage them to read and stretch their imagination.

Cartoons and fairy tales on balance do far more good than harm.

There are far more important negatives in our society that we have to pay attention to remedy.

Too many of us can not put things into perspective.

Just look at all those people filled with hatred for illegal immigrants.

For the most part, illegal immigrants are desperate people looking to find a way to feed themselves and their families. They are willing to risk their lives in order to work for less than minimum wage.

You would think that they are the most evil people in the world. By all accounts, in a cost benefit analysis, they are a slight plus to our economy. Even is they were a slight negative, so what?

I am all for a policy that discourages and keeps people from coming into our country illegally - but to hunt them down after they are here .......

Isn't there a lot more egregious things going on that we should be much more concerned with - like drug trafficking, child pornography, and people advocating the killing of other people.

Don't we have better things to do than banning Tom and Jerry cartoons?

Don't we have more important things to be outraged about or even concerned about?
