You keep missing the point. The LAW isn't a thing like a stone or a tree, it's a figment of our imagination. It only exists because we agree to let it exist.

I keep missing it because you can't seem to find a place to anchor your points.

First you tell me that under the previous scenario I outlined where there either exists no law, or the authorities are too weak to enforce it, that I would be locked up in prison for defending myself by eliminating my enemies before they could eliminate me.

Then you try and tell us that there is no law.. Which was exactly MY POINT. The only law we really have is that which we create for ourselves and CHOOSE, or are willing, to enforce.

Israel exists because they decided to exist and were willing to defend that decision to exist as a state against all enemies.

The PA exists because the international community decided to grant them that status, and the Palestinians have only to negotiate a final peace settlement with Israel and they can have their state too.

As for Absentee land status, that's a matter yet to be resolved. I hightly doubt the Israelis are going to be willing to negotiate any land that was abandoned prior to 1967, and any land used for military purposes on the West Bank used for military bases or roads will likely be turned back over to the Palestinians, since Jewish settlements are only supposed to exist on previously unoccupied land that was under the control of the Kingdom of Jordan (which renounced all claims to that land in 1989). Any other land should be returned to the rightful owners (or descendants thereof, upon display of authentic deed and/or title.

There has to be a price for the aggression that was perpetratd against Israel for the past 58 years by its Arab neighbors. It's sad that some Palestinians may have lost their land by accepting the recommendation to abandon it in 1948.

The Israelis, under international law, could opt to keep all of the unoccupied land previously owned by Jordan prior to 1967. But this would be foolish on their part, IMO.

Just as foolish as the continuous refusal by the Palestinian governtal authorities to recognize that a "bird in hand, is worth two in the bush", and be happy with what they are currently being offered. They can always keep the option to extend further negotiations for additional land to be turned over to them via future negotiations.

Contrary to your obvious belief, I really don't believe the majority of Israelis want to be in a state of perpetual war with the Palestinians. I don't believe they like having to constantly carry out retaliatory strikes, or have their troops invade and root out terrorist groups that the PA should be neutralizing on their own in order to establish sovereign control over their borders.

The stupidest thing Israel could do is create another Lebanese situation where the government is so weak they can't even control the armed groups in their midst.

It would certainly be a remarkable development were the Palestinians to devote as much time and effort into creating and developing their own society, as they devote to trying to destroy Israel's.
