and the average person is mored educated,

I'm not so sure about this.

Hobby horse alert. I saw a CVS commercial yesterday where a pharmacist was talking about the work he did, presumably to give us confidence. He says "Me and my brother used to..." and I wondered how I could trust the education of this pharmacist. End hobby horse rock.

I

Everything Amory Lovins is talking about brings production closer to home as part of sustainability..it will increase meaningful employment as I understand it; and It will reduce the need for resources and thus the need to compete for certain resources (Ie: the Present wasteful misadventure in the mideast).

The Haida Native peoples from the West coast of Canada (before our European ancestors came and intervened) had a surplus of easily available food and materials for shelter at hand and spent the majority of thier time in cultural pursuits... every year each family clan would throw a large party (Potlach) for everyone in the community and give carvings, delicacies, fancy clothing and tools away..the clan who gave most away was the one most highly revered..In the early part of the last century the Canadian Government dominated by so called Christians created a Canadian law that banned potlaches!..Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau finally had the law removed in the early sixties.

For the longer run by 2050 we (the whole world) will be into a population implosion.
