"Iran's two worst enemies, the United States and Israel, both are nuclear armed. I doubt that there is anything on the planet that will prevent Iran from gearing up."

There are enemies and then there are enemies Carl. What poster SunTzu talked about when he was here was a longer term iranian interest that required peace with the US and stability in the middle east. With the shiaa crescent almost a done deal, how much further do the realists in iran need to go? They aint going to control sunni lands any time soon.
US can go from enemy to fast friend in an economic heartbeat and more than for the failed sunni regimes and movements, peace with israel is not as far fetched as it now seems. Iran has a natural alliance (theoretical right now) brewing with Turkey and Israel who will emerge as the three powers in the region.
A few things have to happen first--bush and iranian pres need to go. No more crazy talk. 2 years and counting.
