My comments were not made from the standpoint of the child.

I get tired of the victim mindset.
The parents are not culpable because they're too busy.
While they'd like this to be a reason, I consider it more of
an excuse. It's the easy way out. The path of least resistance.

It's also an affirmative choice.
I choose to spend my time this way versus that way.

In response someone might say that economics dictate how time must be spent. While there is an element of truth to this, I'm unwilling to paint with so broad a brush. People do make choices and not all are wholly economically driven.

If we really wanted to focus on the kids, I think there would be a greater push for higher standards in education, rather than angst over whether children should even be graded or told that they're failing.

Good grief! Even on an adult level, no one "wins" an Oscar
anymore. The Oscar just "goes to" someone. How silly is that?
