Do you have a link that says the preponderance of scientific evidence was for a "new glacial period"? Just asking, because I don't remember that doomsday scenario... maybe I missed the news. I might have been napping between 1970 and 1990.

You are looking at a 20 year trend, but what you need to look at is the macro trends that span tens of thousands of years.
