The sections of Fiasco that deal with the administrations refrain of "Who could have predicted..." . . . My reaction precisely. I was impressed with how much detail Ricks had dug up. But as I began to think about it, I realized there had been quite a bit of that and much of it about precisely the things they (the Bush folk) were now claiming no one could have predicted. I think it's called accountability, perhaps even responsibility, that is owning up to one's mistakes.
