<<This is just an idea ... want to sleep on it ... I'm a wacko extremist with crazy ideas>>

I think it's best that you not only sleep on it, but try slipping into a coma on same. For, in your schema, who is watching the watcher? Surely not Mr and Mrs Walmart shoppers. I think I would leave it to the French, much civilized, more fun-loving, and certainly better cooks.

>>The USA has excellent launch facilities. Perhaps they could announce a new nuclear test programme. Explode a little one 100km above Tehran, at night, for full visual effect, then each month do one a bit lower and a bit bigger until Iran agrees to adopt the new constitution and have NUN inspectors check around to make sure they aren't up to no good.

The problem with this otherwise sensible approach, is that there are folks down wind, also nuclear armed.

They may not like the fallout, and could retaliate if pissed off enough using the same methods against a US city, or simply massively dump currency surplus.

There is a problem with this kind of poker. Someone crazy enough can overturn the table...

Contra argument: The folks in Tehran are irrational religious whack jobs who want to speed up the return of the prophet by doing something really nasty. Why give them ability to do same?

Fair contra contra argument: Bush is also irrational religious whack job who believes supreme being made him pres for a reason.

Does this all sound like a grade B movie?

No, I think Iran wants nukes so that the US and Israel won't attack them.

Only idiots write G-d :)

But the tradition of using an alternative name for God is very ancient.

Ba'al = master

This probably wasn't the real name of the god, which likely was Haddad.
