Lizzie;
This is a good example of how certain companies can easily be manipulated. Companies that do not pay dividends, have stock buyback programs, or issue guidance are like dry leaves in a winter storm. Any rumor knocks the price down, providing easy profits for shorters.
BTW, as has been pointed out on this board(by yourself if not others), it is not illegal simply to issue backdated stocks, which is something Jobs may have been involved in at Pixar. The illegality can occur subsequently in regards to how the public announcement of the options(were shareholders misinformed?) or the tax treatment of the options. It is not so clear that Jobs is connected with these activities.

today's weakness is due to a rumor that Jobs is leaving. I sure hope not!

What concerns me, though, is that he may be culpable in the Pixar case, which would affect his ability to remain an officer or director in any public company, including AAPL.

Lizzie,

It may be the rumor that Jobs is leaving. OTOH, it may be due to the class action suits filed making the news.

Does anyone have a read on how these particular class action suits are playing out in the courts?
a) If illegal actions are documented? and
b) If no illegal actions are documented?
