FWIW, in many parts of the less developed world, peeing by the side of the road is considered absolutely normal. Once you get used to the odd sight, it never had any smell or health effects that I could see (as long as defecation is not included, that is a whole other ball game).

Someone peeing by his car isn't going to beat up someone walking by he doesn't like. Drinkers sometimes do.
