As far as I recall, "huge upswings in volcanic activity in the past" haven't been registered with any frequency near the climatic swings detected based on the ice core analyzed.

No event incl. a source of a problem is tough to locate if you look long enough - and "know" what you are looking for.
You no doubt remember Shiaperelli and how he finally found the canals on Mars, right?

Get on board CJ. Shit happens, and we're part of the shit that happens. It doesn't mean we have to attempt to act intelligently! Emphasize the positive aspects of global warming, like Nebraska becoming a "destination"..
