Trump's dad made a fortune in real estate and loaned him millions to get started, not a tough call in that situation.

"Let's see, dad made $60m in real estate, he's willing to loan me a few mil to invest in real estate, should I go with that or my lifelong dream of becoming a professional mime?"

Edit: Make that $600m

In late 2003, Trump, along with his siblings, sold their late father's real estate empire to a group of investors that included Bain Capital, KKR, and LamboNuni Bank reportedly for $600 million. Donald's 1/3 share was $200 million, which he later used to finance Trump Casino & Resorts.

>>back to regular day jobs soon enough<<

That's funny and accurate. The RE mania is so similar to the Dot.Com mania in that everyone knew somebody jumping ship to go work for the latest .COM company for 10k pre-ipo shares.

There was such a large contingent of B & C performers earning 100k+ in the 90's b/c the labor market for tech was so tight, SE's were receiving 50k signing bonuses plus a sports car. The Sales crews had zero tech experience and it showed, i can't tell you how many group presentations i sat thru listening to my competitors stumble over words like 'Application Server' and '.NET Framework'. They were like the Keystone Cops. Eventually, in mid-2000, after the Dot.Crash the new buzzword was BTB as in Back To Banking... then Giant Flush as 1000's of dot.coms closed shop and 100's of thousands of employees were let go.

Now fast foward to this mania and it's very similar - who doesn't know someone who's a 'Developer' or 'Mortgage Broker' or owns their own 'Agency' There's a flush happening right now but comparing the 2 mania's and the influx and outflux of bodies it makes you speculate where will these folks end up?
