Would any of the current regional tension exist to the extent that it currently does if we'd guaranteed that the Ottoman Empire would remain intact? There might well be more peace in the ME, if the Ottoman Turks still ran the entire place, but it would be in the same sense that Saddam ran Iraq better than we are now I suspect (or Tito did better in Yugoland). The more interesting question is can anyone do in the ME, what the Communist Party is and has been doing for the last decade and more, in China? I note they are Atheists, perhaps that is what the ME needs, no??
