All the palestinians have to do is stop firing. Simple isn't it. Yep. All the Palestinians have to do is capitulate to all of Israel's demands. It certainly is easy. No they have a choice, they can cease firing, or they can continue. If they cease firing maybe Israel will negotiate, maybe Israel won't so they can start firing again. If Israel negotiates maybe they will get a deal they can live with. maybe they won't, so they can start firing again. if they get a deal they can live with, and peace is attained they are very lucky, if not they can start firing again. The only thing that changes nothing is continuing to fire. But that may be the choice they take. Israel has only three choices, to keep reacting to aggression which is what they do now, to reach peace somehow, or to start initiating aggression. Israel is making their choice now. They see no hope of peace, and reacting to acts of aggression is being seen as not bringing any successful conclusion.

Yep. All the Palestinians have to do is capitulate to all of Israel's demands. No, all they have to stop firing and negotiate in good faith--knowing that they'll have to recognize Israel's existence; knowing that they won't get back to '48 borders and probably not even fully back to the '68 borders; and knowing that Israel can't possibly accommodate demands of a Right of Return for Palestinians. Palestinians could have had a state for over 5 years now if they accepted the Clinton deal, which would have given something like 93% of what they were demanding in terms of land. Instead they began the intifada--gee, that was a smart move, wasnt' it? They could have had even more if they had accepted the two state solution back in '48. Egypt got everything they lost back in '79--including oil that the Israelis had discovered and developed in the decade that they held it. Every time the Palestinians fight instead of negotiating and lose, they ought to know that that decision will have the consequence that the amount of land they can rightfully expect to get back will be smaller.
