The deal is preventing us from becoming like Israel, where it is ingrained in the psyche of every citizen on a daily basis. The point was that your boiling water/frog analogy was not appropriate in this circumstance, because it is in fact the more mundane and far more likely threats to our lives like crime and unsafe roads, posed by OTHER AMERICANS, that actually in reality threaten our daily existence. A lot more than a rare terorist incident like 9/11, which caused a schock and knee-jerk reaction. Even if a terrorist bomb exploded in a shopping mall, it would still be a relatively minor threat to our daily existence in the grand scheme of things. An Ameican is statistically far more like, like 1000s of times more likely, to be killed driving to a shopping mall or walking in a street to go shopping, than by random and rare terrorism incident. The terrorism hreat is overblown. If one is worried about their daily existence, they should worry about more mudane things. The American frog should be afraid of other Americans and their violent nature and unsafe driving habits, which causes far more death and mayhem than all terrorist incidents in the world combined. Besides, our terrorist threat would lessen greatly if we did two things: 1. Stop supporting Israel and force them to the bargining table for a lasting peace with the Palestinians. Force Israel to live in peace and we reduce our terrorist threat significantly. 2. Pull out of the Middle East and stop killing arabs. We had no arab terrorist problem in America until we started meddling in THEIR business and killing arabs. Even Osama Bin Laden stated that his driving reason for attacking us on 9/11/01 was our presence in their Holy Land of Arabia. Remove our presence and we reduce our terrorist threat significantly. Apparently the U.S. government is not all that interested in capturing Osama Bin Laden anyway. Read up on Tora Bora November 2001. The CIA had Osama Bin Laden cornered in the mountains and were monitoring his movements. When the CIA, according to their field personnel on the chase, asked for 1,500 Army Rangers to mount an effective operation to capture Osama Bin Laden the request was mysteriously denied by the Pentagon?!? That does not sound like a government with a sincere interest in capturing Osama Bin Laden. You and your naive counterparts are being mislead by our government. They have no interest on fighting a real war on terrorism. North Korea has twice as many nukes as when Bush declared them an Axis of Evil country, yet he attacked and continues war in nuclear free Iraq. Insane!
