What do you think the Democrats did wrong over the past 15-20 years to put them in the place they are in?"

The Democrats were the party in power, even more so in the wake of Watergate. The often controlled both houses and that means they got involved in corruption and got disconnected from their base.

Were there a number of examples of corruption? Small incidents or large ones? I don't ever remember a run of Democratic corruption like we've seen with the GOP during the past 6 years. Not saying that it didn't happen but I didn't hear anything.....not that I was paying much attention.

In the 1980s, the only thing I remember hearing was that Carter wasn't sophisticated enough to be president and I think he kept tripping on things.......looking like a dork. In MN, the Dem. Farmer Labor party is very solid with very little corruption. Same with the Ripon Republicans....pretty clean as well. So I wasn't all that aware of corruption from either party.

As a result, they were ripe for picking when 1994 rolled around. Since then, they've spent most of their time hiding behind trees and cowering under rocks.

Yeah, I gathered that much but I wonder if the GOP takeover had as much to do with GOP spin and the trashing of the Dems as it had to do with Dem. corruption.
