I think their high rates of suicide may be due more to light deprivation. The suicide rates there have always been high.

As for pleasure seeking- I don't advocate hedonism per se (though I've no problem with people who do). I simply think one should take pleasure in life, to the greatest extent possible, while still planning for the future- since future pleasure is important also. Where hedonism (imo) misses the mark, is to advocate pleasure today, at the expense of pleasure tomorrow- which in the end can lead to a negative value of pleasure over the course of one's life.

Pain comes with life without being sought. It is my opinion one should avoid pain as much as possible, since you'll get plenty of it anyway. I don't know why that would bother anyone. I don't expect other people to live the way I do- why would it bother you that I live this way? I'm not sure I understand why it would bother you. Can you explain?
