Honestly, I find it difficult to accept this distinction between Arabs and Muslims. How many Arabs in Saudi Arabia are not Muslims? The same goes for any other country where the moderate Muslims blame blame the Arabs, or is it the other way around? I find the whole subject of Arab or Persian ancestry to be academic and a convenient excuse to pass the blame for terrorism from one group to the next, without ever identifying the guilty party. Arab vs. Muslim identities give OPEC countires based on Islamic law to parade like multicultural nations. That's fine, I just don't see any meaning behind the word Arab to differentiate them from their Muslim culture. Sure Persians will be Shiites and Saudis will be Arabs. I fail to see any unique qualities to being an Arab that is not expressed by Muslim theology, until someone gets killed and the Muslims want to say it's a local problem with the Arabs. Going back to my original point, the primary goal of intolerance is to extort force against other Muslims or Arabs that have not yet been forcibly converted to Islam or apostate Muslims that need fundamental purification. They are the KKK of the Muslim countryside beheading every person that does not respond to their salafi fundamentalism of wahhabism. They are like the Johnny Appleseeds of the ME with a Koran in one hand and a butcher knife in the other. IMO, the jihadis only attacked the West because we are getting in the way of their bloodthirsty games to destroy a moderate way of life for people in the ME. They have used the intolerance of the Islamic tradition for religious intolerance to recruit and educate moderates against the West to take control of the local ideology. By pretending to fight the West, they have built their pyschotic armies of jihadis to follow their strict fundamentalism against the West. By gaining control of the local renegades against the Zionists, they quickly mobilize against the local community by killing the police. This is easy to accomplish until people realize that their own way of life has been taken from them by the salafis. At this point in Iraq, I think that Sunnis and Shiites are slowly beginning to restore trust as a last ditch effort to escape the totalitarianism control of the insurgengents, salafis, jihadis, or al quaeda, taliban, or whatever terrorist gang they want to belong. I don't hold much hope for a Islamic reformation. To date, there has been no serious discussion by the Islamic community to accept civil rights. However, I think that Islamic culture is ready for a swing back to the status quo away from the strict fundamentalism of the salafi meatheads.
