Surely. The guy who lost could give up smoking or drinking or have some sort of epiphany.


I don't mean nearly that indirect. Your talking about random gains with no normal logical connection to the trade, that may wind up being the result of the trade. I'm talking about gains much more closely connected to the trade and that are reasonably foreseeable consequences of it, even planned consequences of it.

Something that is a zero sum game produces no net gain. The markets for futures and options produce real net gains.
