If they make an ass of themselves is that a crime? They create a distraction from the important question of why did the Cheney administration fail to pass on the warnings that Bin Laden was about to hijack planes. Cheney would much rather divert such questions into easily disproved assertions which imply that Al Qaeda didn't even attack. That's practicly the crime of coverup.
