Jim, AMD is still using the quasi MHz rating system which makes some sense to "Average Joe" buyers. Intels naming system is clueless.

AMD's naming system is no more meaningful than Intel's, especially with Athlon 64 arbitrarily jumping to the 4000-5000 range with corresponding MHz and the FX line using two digit model numbers that have no correlation to anything.

I can tell you which AMD chips are the fastest, no problem.

On PriceWatch.com I see Athlon 64 4000 and Athlon 64 x2 4000. Which one is faster?

The bottom line is that it's total B.S. Even hardware sites show the clock speed. It gets worse now with the move to dual cores and quad cores, and AMD's "QuantiSpeed" ratings become even more irrelevant.

By the way, I never liked Intel's move to BMW-style model numbers. But the success of Centrino without "MHz sells" should speak for itself. I brought this up to you before. I don't know why you continue to deny it.

Jim, I honestly couldn't tell you which Intel "mystery" chips are the fastest without researching it.

From PriceWatch.com:

$ 555.00 - core 2 duo e6700 2.67ghz
$ 343.00 - core 2 duo e6600 2.4ghz
$ 232.99 - core 2 duo e6400 2.13ghz
$ 190.00 - core 2 duo e6300 1.86ghz

Which chips are the fastest? If you honestly can't tell, then I quite honestly think that you don't have a clue.
