"capital outflow from the usa exchanges for friendlier domiciles" Can I translate this as CSME or Capital Spreading More Evenly? I know a very friendly place where this capital is going to go to.

Last time I was in Indonesia, (2004) I read: the local Siemens company was going to adapt to Sab-Ox. I didn't laugh because I was shocked!

Thanks for the article!

Thanks for the report TJ. Interesting and grist for the mill.

<japanese do not invest in international equities even if traded in tokyo).>

I can imagine that's generally true. Neither are they all that keen on people like Horie of Livedoor using foreign money to do buyouts and sortings out of local companies. He is currently on trial for some dredged up charges which seem flimsy at best.

Meanwhile, Livedoor profits continue to do well, which pleases we shareholders.

It doesn't surprise me that the English and Scottish might like to snigger at the USA, which lacks their aristocratic roots. We colonials are always disparaged by the centre of the Empire, has-been though it is. Especially the USA and especially with King George II making an easy target.

I won't be in a hurry to join the exodus to London, Shanghai and Hong Kong, none of which I think are as good as the USA which gaols evil-doing corporate management on a regular basis.

Though I understand they seriously think a tectonic shift might be under way.

The British just love to see America screw up any time and validate their opinion that America is inferior and dumb.

TJ, How do your smug, superior UK banker friends feel today? Any sign of humility yet, now that the exploding whale carcass has spewed stinking offal and gore all along the High Street? Have they got their Wellies on?

Re your post of 9/13/2006: >>the gathering was full of mirth, anticipating continuing capital outflow from the usa exchanges for friendlier domiciles, relishing the prospect of the big drain of good people, better money, and best of all prosperity as the moolah drains into london and hong kong, and perhaps even shanghai, but not tokyo (japanese do not invest in international equities even if traded in tokyo).<<

TJ,

How do those glee, mirthful Scots feel about Gordon Brown's 100% bailout of Northern Rock? Do they want him to bail out other troubled UK lenders like Alliance & Leicester, or Bradford & Bingley? Have they contemplated how far the British pound will drop if he throws everything into the gaping maw of the ravenous beast? Are the hairs on the backs of their necks prickling yet?

Re your post of 9/13/2006: >>interestingly, during the question and answer session at the end of the speech, whenever anyone spoke negatively about the usa actions and reactions, and how it will come to no good, whether on the subject of laws, codes, foreign affairs, domestic stupidity, and traveling around the world without entering the usa space, the crowd, especially the scots, would go wild with approval, good cheer, derision, and again, mirth.<<
