"It makes very little sense attempting to engage in negotiations with most totalitarian regimes WITHOUT the implicit threat that intransigent provocation of the demands of the international community might lead to military force being utilized to resolve the goal of the binding resolution.

Yeah, I see where implicit threats have worked so well. Somehow,we managed to get past Russia and China without a threat other than MAD.

"The difference between Saddam and all of these other "bad guys" is that Saddam invaded Kuwait, and as a result was under the sanction of the United Nations via well over a dozen BINDING UNSC resolutions."

Oh,I'm sorry. I didn't realize SH was in Kuwait in '01. I thought we kick him out in '91. By all means we had to kick him out again. I would have thought he learned his lesson the first time. I guess he only had a 10 year memory.
Funny. I googled the news, and there were no stories about that. Onliest thing I could find was a press conference where Shrub said Iraq had no connection with 9/11.

Very good point. If there is no possible stick, than the carrot will have to be rather large, and there is nothing to stop them from causign problems later and asking for more carrots...
