"Did anyone see this, rather scarey in my view.

I recommend you take a beginning high school biology class to alleviate some, maybe not all, of those concerns.

"Scientists have long studied bacteriophages as a bacteria-fighting alternative to antibiotics.

bacteriophages are what your body naturally produces to destroy unwelcome bacteria. Antibiotics kill all bacteria including beneficial bacteria. Maybe you think this to be topsy turvy but I view antibiotics as the less natural alternative.

I didn't see a scientific concern about the use of bacteriophages. The concern seems to be the low level risk of toxic residues associated with the bacteria in the growth culture contaminating the bacteriophage treatment.

Currently we have hundreds of deaths per year associated with the bacteria on meat products that are untreated. With the treatment we run the unlikely risk of some toxic residue contaminating the meat... "However, testing did not reveal the presence of such residues, which in small quantities likely wouldn't cause health problems anyway, the FDA said."

I suspect the biggest protests will come from vegetarians, or people who don't eat this kind of commercially processed meat anyway ... just an inkling.

Personally, the panick hasn't set in yet for me.
