ALL government is a form of socialism, and insofar as government is essential in human society, all socialism is not evil. Nor is all government, and placing the government in the hands of people who profess to be anti-government is absurd. They will use the government to suit their purposes and they will use the lack of it to suit to their purposes. I.E. -- the Bush administration . . . big government working for them, no government for everyone else.

Buishies do not believe in democracy, nor Jeffersonian principals of truth, honest debate and checks and balances. What they do believe in in an elitist rightwing corporate class which hoodwinks the workingclass into voting for them using wedge issues like guns, Jesus, abortion and gays, and if Bushies fear they'll lose, they have no ethical problem with outright cheating.

Also, the electoral system and the jerrymandering benefits the GOP. Both steal democracy from the American people.

Many top Bushie strategists are on record as stating that democracy is not the best thing for America. Bush himself said he would would prefer to be a dictator.

Remember McCarthyism and the big lie they told. Which ressembles Bushism now. They took "communism" which in its infancy was an idealistic vision Christ would have 100% supported, that is sharing, which every child is taught is a good thing, then because the Soviet Union and China bastardized it and turned it into dictatorships, they blamed everyone who believed in worker's and farmer's rights, peace, civil rights and free speech and accused them of being "the enemy" (with the Soviet Union), and since communism was government-controlled, that is socialist, they demonized socialism even though every single US ally in the western world is socialist, including Canada, which is in much better shape than we are these days, and they called anyone who wanted social programs like universal health care (which works) "communists", so basically anyone faintly liberal becomes an enemy of the state and only those who believe in one party elitist industrial-military rightwing rule is a "patriot". Only they had it totally backwards. The real patriots were the ones who wanted government for the people, by the people, and who believed "this is land is our land" not the land of the 2% richest and most greedy only.

Bottomline, capitalism is fine, but too much of it = corruption and a military-industrial elistist autocratic dictatorship. Which becomes fascism. Which is where we are headed now if we don't vote these bastards out of office fast.
