Bush poo-poo'ed Gore's wise environmentalism in 2000 and stated Gore wanted to do away with the internal combustion engine and oil-coal power plants. He mocked him. Ha ha. Turned out Gore was 100% right.

Cheney poo-poo'ed conservation and said in 2000 that it was not going to solve our problems, but that we needed instead 1350 new coal, oil and nuclear power plants as well as many new oil refineries, which the tax-payer would pay for and Halliburton and Duke would build.

For you to argue that these two are not deeply in bed with polluting energy interests including the Saudis (and by extension Iran and formerly Saddam Hussein) is laughable. Bush-cheney have done nothing in the area of conservation and have lorded over the biggest gas and energy gouging marathon in history. They also stated in speeches that we are fighting in Iraq to protect "the American way of life" which of course means over-consumption of oil. In other words, the invasion was really about oil, which their corporate pals would gouge us for, but which US troops and taxpayers would pay doubly for.
