re: Meanwhile, I can give you lots of examples of Democrats trying to obstruct and do whatever it takes to make their warnings about another Vietnam a self-fulfilling prophecy.

this sums it up perfectly. From a soldier in Iraq:

Are we or are we not in a war? Can we please get on with it and stop trying to make everyone happy? No matter what we do, we’re going to end up offending someone. Our mere existence as infidels is offending to most Muslims here. It’s like being thrown into a boxing ring…told to beat the opponent. However, you can’t knock him out or make him bleed. You can’t throw upper cuts, right crosses, or hooks. The only thing you can do is throw jabs. Oh and by the way, we need you to beat him in three rounds in time for the mid-term elections.

For the first time, I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen here. We’re not in a civil war yet…but if things don’t change drastically…and soon, I have no doubt we’ll be knee deep into one before we can say Dirka Dirka. I still feel strongly that we were justified in coming here. I just hope that we do the right thing and see this through.

And how is this an example of how Democrats are "trying to obstruct and do whatever it takes to make their warnings about another Vietnam a self-fulfilling prophecy"?

To me it sounds like an indictment of how the Republican admin is running it's war.

Why should we care what ONE soldier in Iraq feels about the war? Soldiers are our tools, to be deployed where they can best serve the interests of OUR country. Iraq isn't such a place.

vaiw.org

I can find a statement by ANOTHER soldier that claims we should leave immediately, just as irrelevant.

I agree with the soldiers at the site above. No soldier's life should be wasted in a place like Iraq, that presented NO threat to the USA. American soldiers should ONLY be used to defend THIS country, not police the world.
