What does that mean? Considered in isolation? Just about nothing. How many times have you not like a government policy? How many times have you written to your congressman to complain about it? I imagine the 2nd number is far smaller than the first number. If it isn't than you are extremely unusual in that regard. 3 - Supporting a policy of backing a dictator in a certain situation doesn't mean you like the dictator.<?I> Do you understand when I said "like" I didn't mean you liked him in some friendship way? I would hardly expect that since you have never met. I meant that you support him in the way you suggest in item 3 above. Than your using the word like in a sense other than what the word means. Would it have been fair to say that someone who considers FDR to be a good president liked Stalin, because FDR sent aid to Stalin? Of course not, but it would be similar to your statement about me. Of course Musharraf is no Stalin, but he is a dicatator, and we aren't supporting him to the extent that we supported Stalin. You take the fact that I didn't write my congressman to complain about the policy of supporting Musharraf, and than say it means I like Musharraf. No you don't just say I like Musharraf you say I like all capitalist dictators. Don't you see how I find that to be a slur? "Now if in your world - "Tim hasn't met a tyrant [who also practices capitalism] he doesn't like!" means "Tim sometimes accepts a government policy of supporting a dictator when its strongly in our national interest to do so", than I can see why you don't consider the statement to be a slur." This is the way I meant the statement. "But if your not speaking English can you please direct me to a place where I can learn the language you do speak..." You've lost me. If you meant the statement that way then you aren't really using English, because in the English language the words that you used don't vaguely resemble what you are saying you meant. "Sometimes" doesn't equal "always" "Didn't write your congressman about a policy" doesn't equal "support a policy". "Supports a policy of supporting X", doesn't equal likes X". If your going to use words in totally different ways that what they really mean than how can their be any communication? Your words boil down to - "Tim likes dictators", and not just that but every single non-socialist dictator. That is insulting. How would you react if someone called you a a**hole and than said "well I really mean that you are younger than me, or that you live on the west coast. "Like" and other relevant terms in your posts don't mean what you say you meant any more than "a**hole" means "lives on the west coast". To toss out the type of insults that you tossed out and then to say "those words don't really mean that" is strange to say the least.
