>>I believe that the Apple philosophy was that for people who are new to computers (which include the vast majority of people up until recently) the one button mouse is easier to use - ever see a newbie doing something on the computer and getting frustrated because he/she keeps hitting the middle button.

I still see the confusion on a system where the buttons have different functions but left is used for most - although nowadays people get the concept faster.<<

Absolutely. I am often asked for help by Windows users, who have difficulty figuring out when to right-click and when to left-click. Some of these people have been using Windows for many years.

Yeah that's certainly a much more elegant solution than adding a freaking ACTUAL right mouse button.

Juggle the keyboard and the mouse just so you can pretend you're right clicking! Genius of apple usability there! NOT!

Other features were accessed by control - mouse click and option - mouse click.

KeepItSimple is right on this one. The one button mouse policy has been derided by 90% of users for some time. The Hockey Puc mouse was the worst mouse ever. Remember how stubborn Jobs was about that? Thankfully he's not so egotistical now. He's more common sense. Like there are now jacks on the FRONT of the Pro machines. FINALLY.
