IMHO he should have said in the beginning to the press that if they cannot report the whole speech properly so that his remarks are taken in context instead of out of context that he will be forced to limit Press Access to the Vatican. Then he should have asked several Muslim Clerics to come to him with his complete speech and to discuss the entire speech with him, and if they wanted with the people he gave the speech to in a panel type situation.

the issue of how Pope Benedict, given his position in the world, could have handled(in your opinion)this issue of terrorism by islamo-fascists So, the question is what I think the Pope should do about terrorism? I think that the Pope should condemn terrorism and the tolerance of terrorism periodically, whenever a suitable opportunity presents itself, so that he is clearly on the record that terrorism is unacceptable in a civilized world and surely unacceptable to God. He should model collaboration across religions making himself available to any and all leaders within the community from which the terrorism arises and clearly on the record to help in any way he can to purge that stain from their culture and religion. He could and should talk up the notion of reform, referencing the reform that has taken place in other religions, including his, and stressing the value of such reformations across the board and his appreciation of how difficult and time-consuming they are. Perhaps he could put his experts to work cooking up a plan by which potential leaders of such a reformation might facilitate it and offer it to them or publish some think pieces on the subject of how reforms happen. And I think he should handle references to Islam carefully, refraining from clumsy statements or interventions that agitate without prospect of a beneficial return. First, do no harm. children's human rights..that each child in this country goes to sleep satisfied and not hungry It's interesting that you would frame the problem of hungry children in this country as a human rights issue. It never occurred to me to classify US poverty as a human rights issue. Re the problem of hunger among American children, I was under the impression that it had been all but solved and the greater problem was now childhood obesity.
