Really? You are disputing the fact that the anti-religious ideology that Stalin, Hitler, Mao and Pol Pot represent were the source of most of the agony of the 20th Century?

This was another topic at our dinner party Friday night! (the guests there were witty, educated, and well-read and travelled; it was a wonderful evening).

One person mentioned that he had felt rather like you and your statement about the frustrations of excessive dialogue, but that on reflection, he concluded that the alternative is so extreme and so final we can't abandon it if there is any chance of some success.

The choice of descriptive words being used here is dismaying, since it indicates a readiness to move beyond dialogue-- but to what? Reciprocal hate and violence? "Bomb them all"? What is the plan of those who have left discourse and gone to the general condemnation and dismissal of an entire religious or ethnic group?
