Muslim in the literal sense is an Arabic word that simply means believer (believes in God). Infidel is someone who doesn't believe in God.

Then comes interpretation about who qualifies. Well, people who are bigoted against Mormons and would like to eliminate them will call Mormans infidels and kill them in Illinois, forcing them to move to Utah and such. The word infidel can get mixed in with heretic pretty easily.

So, depending on who you decide to hate, you can gather information and rally a mob and pretty much use the 'infidel' label where ever you want. Or direct it at everybody who doesn't believe God should be worshipped exactly as you think God should be worshipped ... which taken to extremes means everybody.

I have watch women that were so exactly alike in their daily worship and outlook on life that it would be nearly impossible to distinguish their religious differences... then they get in an argument on how the hejab should be tied (the common scarf Muslim women may wear).

"So all ...

Now there's a great phrase. And one that usually warns me that someone is getting ready to say something over the edge, and probably bigoted or just mean.
