Are you planning on taking refuge in "God talks to the Pope"?

Does He tell him which lines of his Divinely Inspired book he REALLY meant and which he didn't?

Why does he talk only to the Pope? Why not me or RCG or Ted Fowler? By the standards of the Bible, we surely need it more.

Deep down true-beleiving Catholics aren't fundamentalists? Fooled me.

Catholics come in many flavors like most religions. There are "fallen away" members who no longer attend services but nevertheless want their children baptized Catholic and intend to be laid to rest with the Church's rites. There are as well what I would consider fundamentalist members of the Church who "religiously" observe holy days and other church guidelines.

As far as the Bible. I've always considered a person's attitude toward the bible the primary difference between American Protestants and Catholics. The latter are trained to respect the Bible but with a caveat...don't take each word literally due to many irrational passages. It's my understanding some of those passages were used for generations, by some people, to support domestic abuse; therefore, the Catholic church suggests that it's unwise for laymen to live their lives according to solely their own interpretations of those particular controversial passages in the Bible. That's one example. Don't ask me to quote those passages, as I've rarly read the Bible in my life, although there is a vintage family bible on a bookshelf in my home.
