Economic studies have shown, repeatedly, that raising the minimum wage doesn't help the poorest and the least educated, because it shuts them out of the job market.

As for immigrant labor, those people work extremely hard, and have good family values.

But if you have an entitlement mentality, and think the world owes you a living, then you resent people willing to start at the bottom of the ladder and work their way up through diligence and hard work, because they leave you in the dust and make you look bad.

Gotta go mail a "care package" to my "baby". Later.

This is only partially true. They also stand against the increasing the minimum wage, and half the party, the Bush half, is for importing illegal Mexicans to take jobs that poor blacks might otherwise get. In other words, exploiting the labor of the poorest and most powerless among us

I live in Niagara, we have orchards and vineyards and processing plants here. The workers arrive in February, March and april and leave in September October and November. Welfare is at it's highest ever. So why do farmers have to fly help in from mexico and Jamaica? Because no one wants the work, and it is cheaper to fly in workers, and pay them good wages, than to have welfare recipients who claim the work is demeaning. But you already knew that.
