re: IMO, that's a huge reason why health insurance costs are going up. More money is being wasted on drugs that are either unnecessary or could be replaced by a generic. The health insurance companies are trying to get a handle on this problem, but they're swimming against a tide of public opinion which is convinced that they always need the latest-n-greatest. And that's going to impact the patients who need it the most. Good argument for the single payer solution.
